can hypothyroidism cause acne? i haven't gotten all the blood work back but my TSH level was very high so my dr suspects hypothyroidism. (makes sense cuz i've had sudden acute thyroid problems once before) in july my birth control pill was changed cuz the pill was being made by a new manufacturer. the pharmacy assured me it was the exact same pill but then i started getting pimples (and not just on my face). i though for sure it was the BC pill switch but now i'm thinking that it could be due to the onset of hypothyroidism. can that be? (a link to where you got your info from would be appreciated)

Angelbunny17 replied: "Hello....I never had acne my whole life until i got Thyroid disease. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism last year, and have had terrible breakouts ever since. It's so ridiculous to be 50 and have acne. No matter what kind of acne medication i use, nothing helps it. I get a really bad breakout, then my face will be perfectly fine for a few months, them it will come back again. Birth control pills can cause acne ( some actually help it ), so that could be causing yours also. If your Thyroid level is high, that's when you are most likely to have it. Whatever causes it, it's really annoying when you already feel horrible, then have to look in the mirror and see your face all broke out. Good luck to you. Hope it gets better soon :-)"

Does Hypothyroidism Always Include Weight Gain? I have a lot of the symptoms of hypothyroidism including Fatigue Weakness Coarse, dry hair Muscle cramps and frequent muscle aches Constipation Irritability Trouble Concentrating Facial Swelling Frequent Urination I also read that acne could be caused by this (which I'm getting). I haven't gained any weight however. In fact I'm on the definitely on the much skinnier side. Any input would be great. Thanks.
