healthnfreedom2 replied: "Seizures are not always Epilepsy and can be caused by many other health problems. And yes Migraine and Epilepsy are interrelated in various ways.Neurological clinics have noted that Epilepsy and Migraine can masquerade as each other, and in patients with Epilepsy or Migraine whose condition seems unclear, consideration of the other disorder may be warranted. Both Migraine and Epilepsy react to environmental triggers. These Triggers can be a big factor in avoiding either of these episodes. Keep a Diary so that your Neuro has some related points. Check your Triggers. Ask for another opinion , or a 3rd opinion. Do your research on seizures, there are many good and trusted sites on the internet. Ask questions, ask questions, ask questions."

Below are some links to begin learning, including links with testimonies. I urge you to learn more.
I have a seizure disorder myself, and have improved my quality of life significantly with the following nutritonal products:
Advanced Ambrotose
Liquid Vitamins (in mega doses)
In Liven - which is a broad spectrum probiotic that has 20 amino acids in it, which are invaluable for brain health
Krill Oil - also valuable for brain health, as our brains are made up of a good percentage of fat
NCD - liquid zeolites to detoxify the body quickly, including the brain
Best of luck to you!!"
From Prozac and Lamictal to 5HTP, Good Idea or not??? I am Bi-Polar. I have been on several different meds over the last couple of years. I am currently taking Prozac for depression and Lamictal to stabalize my mood. I already get headaches and these meds seem to be making it worse. I have been on Lamictal since Dec 2006 and Prozac since Oct of 2006. It seems as though my memory loss is getting worse as time goes on and wonder if it is the meds. I heard about 5HTP and am reading a book about it. I am seriously thinking of stopping my meds and trying it out. Of course my Dr.'s say there is not enough info on it. But I just want to feel normal again. I am tired of the suicidal thoughts and feeling anguished all the time and knowing that there is no reason for it. I have talked to my Dr about the suicidal thoughts and he says that it is normal and for now we will just "wait and see". This seems risky to me. I've heard sooo many good things about 5HTP.....I'd like a public opion.
Thanks
Some of the symptoms that I am experiencing have been lingering since I first started the meds. Other symptoms have been developing over the last couple of months. For instance the memory loss. I noticed that I was becoming a little abscent minded, but now I can forget things as I am trying to speak them. Or I'll think of something that needs to be done and immediately forget it and then get frustrated because it pops back in my mind hours later. As for therapy, I have not done any group therapy, but I have been seeing a therapist one on one for more than a year. She was actually the person who sent me to my Dr to get meds because my situation was getting worse. I have no intention of just stopping my meds cold turkey....I know it is a step by step process and I probably should have stated that, I just wanted to know if anyone has tried 5HTP after traditional meds and I am interested in others opions of it.
By the way 5HTP is Short for
5 Hyroxytryptophan.
Dust in the Wind replied: "Short of going off your meds (and do not do that without doctor supervision, you must be weaned off) and trying an unproven and unapproved treatment I would advise you to get a second opinion.
Wait and see should have been over months ago for you hun. There is NEW thought on bipolar disorder that may counter indicate the use of antidepressants. The fact that you are still experiencing this level of discomfort after 6 months of medication bothers me a lot.
Consider, if you can, some therapy and group therapy to go along with your medication. Half the battle is knowing you are not alone.
