I think i might have an under active thyroid. Looking for a natural supplement to help.? I had my thyroid checked but my doctor says its fine. Thyroid disease runs in my family. my symptoms are: sluggishness, sometimes hard to focus, hard to lose weight easy to gain weight, i have slightly high testosterone, lots of facial hair, low libido, low hdl (50), acne mostly on back and shoulders but some facial and some cystic, i have been diagnosed with slight Pcos but i dont have most of the symptoms, i sleep alot and i have a low temperature.
I am looking for a natural supplement i could take and see if it would help. I cant take most vitamins because they cause extreme stomach discomfort. I was thinking i would need something herbal or homeopathic.
i forgot to mention im only 25
Totem replied: "Formula IV from GNLD. Specifically designed with tre-en-en for hormone regulation."
Al-Andalus cαtღ♡❀ replied: "If your stomach can tolerate sea kelp then try that. Sea kelp is full of iodine that your thyroid gland needs for functioning.
You could also take the aryuvedic herbs Withania somnifera (ashwaganda) and Commiphora mukul (Guggul gum). The latter could also keep your LDL cholesterol at optimum levels and help you lose some weight if that is also what you are looking for.
Agnus castus might help with the PCOS as it works at the level of the pituitary gland to help balance out the hormones. Another herb worth taking is Saw palmetto to help with testosterone excess as it has some anti-androgenic properties. Also, drink lots of mint tea as it has been shown in Turkish studies to help reduce hirsutism in women.
These aren't vitamins so hopefully you can tolerate most of these. But I would start off with introducing only one or two at a time. Start with the Sea kelp and mint tea and see how you get along with those. If you are OK then maybe introduce Agnus castus.
Do bare in mind that you will need to talk to your doctor first though if you are on prescribed medication before taking herbal supplements. Don't take Agnus castus if you are on the pill as it would interfere with its functioning. Agnus castus may help boost libido. It is a known fertility booster so do bare that in mind if you decide to try it.
Get your thyroid hormone levels checked regularly because even if everything is OK now in view of the family history and your symptoms it would be wise to keep your thyroid function monitored. You may be near borderline. Hopefully one or more of these supplements will help with your symptoms.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes."
natural bodybuilders? i had a question on natural competitions
what type of supplements can natural bodybuilders take
can they take testosterone boosters like tren
and do some use very low doses of steroids but clean out
before the competition
help is greatly appreciated
White Power replied: "Natural bodybuilders can use shakes like Whey and Cellmass and stuff like that. But they can not use steroids or anything of that subject. The natural way is the best way. Good luck and God bless."
PLEASE HELP! Is taking DIM complex safe? I'm 17, male, and I unfortunately have a feminine body shape (fat is mostly stored in my thighs and butt). I've seen my doctor about this many times and have taken blood tests. I tested my estrogen and testosterone and the results were inconsistent (one test would show high estrogen and low testosterone, one test would show low estrogen and low testosterone, one test would show high estrogen and high testosterone, and so forth). My doctor has refused to give me any more tests and claims that my body is normal. I beg to differ.
Now for my question: would taking DIM to help balance estrogen and testosterone be safe, since it is a natural supplement? I really want my body to be normal.
STEVE replied: "Stop taking the DIM and when it's no longer present in your body (do some research or call the company to determine this) make a appointment with an "endocrinologist" then stop by his office with sufficient time prior to your appointment and sign medical releases for obtaining your medical records from all your Dr's."
Prostate Cancer Bone Metastasis - Testosterone, DHEA Progesterone, Estriol Supplementation? There seem to be two views points on Testosterone and DHEA:
(a) Testosterstone and DHEA Supplementation can worsen prostate cancer.
(b) Testerstone harms only at less less than adequate levels (whose T levels are stuck in the middle - less than nomal but not minimal). Both in very low levels and at high levels these harmones will help in combating cancer.
We know that in majority of cases Testosterone blockade helps control the disease.
There is some anecdotal (http://www.mercola.com/1998/archive/natural_progesterone2.htm) evidence that Progesterone local application has benefitted advanced prostate metastasis.
Has any research been done with Testosterone/DHEA Progesterone supplements on Advanced PCa persons.
I am interested to know if anyone with advanced Prostate malignancy or breast malignancy on the bone has tried DHEA and/or Testosterone, Progesterone, Estriol supplementation and has perceived benefits.
Accurate info will be of great relevance.

allanbrandt replied: "For a fact, testosterone supplementation will worsen prostate cancer
I don’t know if DHEA supplementation or HGH injections will worsen prostate cancer. If anybody knows, I am interested in the answer myself. Please reply to this question. It is a good one. Reply to this posting and to
Androgen depravation using Lupron or castration is first line treatment of prostate cancer if it has spread, even if it has spread to the bone. If that is not enough, sometimes they will add a second line hormonal treatment such as high dose Ketoconazol to quickly lower your testosterone level to almost zero, but monitor weekly for liver damage using high dose Ketoconazol. (I learned this the hard way). Usually there is a response from the above treatments, but only temporarily.
Estrogen based treatments such as Megace which contains progesterone, or DES which contains estrogen, are not effective treatments if prostate cancer is already in the bone. Estriol supplementation may be similar. Not effective but cant hurt. Prostate cancer hates all female hormones."
If you consider HGH use to be immoral: why? I can understand illegal, HARMFUL steroid use being immoral, but what is immoral about the act of enhancing performance itself? In other words, what is immoral about using HGH to increase performance? It is not immoral or harmful, and in my opinion, it should be available for purchase in small quantities at Vitamin World, GNC, etc.
I believe that the act of enhancing performance itself is simply fighting aging - a natural process. The only thing bad about illegal steroids is that they are medically harmful.
Furthermore, a provocative question remains unanswered:
If an athlete has a naturally low level of testosterone, should he/she be able to take testosterone supplements while playing professional sports? Even further, suppose the lower laboratory reference range for testosterone blood tests was set at 500 ng/dl? Even further, suppose an athlete's body naturally maintains a testosterone blood level of 1200 ng/dl? Then suppose the upper limit for a negative test is 1000 ng/dl ? ? ?
tyler replied: "so you are okay with people cheating?
how about we play monopoly and i get to have 1,000 dollars each turn just because i want to do better"
athlete10 replied: "ya hgh is nothing jk nothing should be taken because its not just cheating the game but your cheating yourself"
sixtus replied: "its a matter of ethics and safety rather than a moral issue for sports.
Allowing it forces athletes who already compete in every way, to then compete as to who can take the most of these substances to win.
Which becomes very very dangerous given that many athletes may be as young as 14 (gymnasts, divers, tennis players) etc and not properly protected by rights in 2nd or 3rd world countries.
A lot of discussion goes into using certain amounts of this and whether disabled athletes should use that etc. etc. but policing it becomes impossible, which is why they settle on a "general ban for the dangerous substances"
Which HGH is by the way-its deadly if not taken in medically indicated instances.Causes death through enlarging major organs, structures, soft tissues even faster than steroids.
Secondly for sports gains it must usually be taken in conjunction with conventional steroids anyway.
Since size and thickening without the extra mass and strength is not useful for any athlete.
I know a lot of guys taking steroids who are terrified of HGH and IGF-1 etc."
Frizzer replied: "It is not immoral and no one is trying to say it is. Certain performance enhancing drugs are banned in baseball as a result of a MLB and Players Union agreement. Morality has nothing to do with the issue, it is against the rules to use them."
HamThugger replied: "Half these people don't understand any of this and how much of this goes on even at the high school level...."
jefe76054 replied: "Freakin' hypocrites. Steroids are fine. I stubbed my toe once, and my "doctor" gave me Peruvian donkey hormones that could bulk up a quadriplegic in a coma. So I grew a tail...big deal. I equate steroid use with prostitution. A person wants something, they purchase it, and they get what they want while someone profits. Nobody is hurt except...those guys who pay EXTRA TO GET HURT! Man could evolve to the point he no longer takes oxygen in through a hole in his face, he'll still want a knob shine from a chick named Destiny. And man will always want to be better at sports...and in the bedroom."
SFA Cutie replied: "How is it immoral? Most Americans cheat on their taxes. Is that immoral?"
As a 16 year old guy would testosterone help me with my physical development during puberty? This is a long question.
-----------------
"- Phallic enlargement or clitoromegaly
- Increased libido and frequency of erection or clitoral engorgement
- Pubic hair extends to thighs and up toward umbilicus
- Facial hair (sideburns, beard, moustache)
- Chest hair, periareolar hair, perianal hair
- Subcutaneous fat in face decreases
- Increased muscle strength and mass
- Deepening of voice
- Growth of the Adam's apple
- Growth of spermatogenic tissue in testes, male fertility
- Growth of jaw, brow, chin, nose, and remodelling of facial bone contours
- Shoulders become broader and rib cage expands"
--------------------
“During puberty, it acts as the "masculinizing" hormone, creating the distinctive male features of a deeper voice, facial hair, and bulkier muscles. But testosterone is responsible for more than just the development of male characteristics at crucial lifecycle stages. Research has shown that testosterone also influences sexual drive, energy levels, and mood.”
------------------
“- Testosterone directly affects the growth of certain facial features, and of the gonads. Testosterone is part of the reason why boys’ faces change shape during puberty (when testosterone levels are high).
- Testosterone is believed to suppress the immune system and so impose a “handicap” on individuals with high testosterone. If there is a cost to having high testosterone, then perhaps only the “best” males can carry this cost. Poor quality males cannot cope with such high levels of testosterone. Therefore, levels of testosterone in the male face may be an “honest” indicator of fitness. “
---------------------
I’m think about taking the supplement “6-Oxo” that’s a natural aromatase inhibitor which instead of directly increasing testosterone - which can be dangerous, it simply blocks oestrogen synthesis causing the pituitary to synthesize more testosterone.
---------------------
I’m doing this because I believe I lack testosterone compared to my friends – I’m more depressed, have low libido, weaker facial features, lack body hair, lack motivation, fat deposits in “feminine” areas (hips and butt).
I’ve been weight training for about a year and I have a very muscular physique similar to the latest james bond, and the doctor already says that my body is overdeveloped compared to my friends. But I believe my face is underdeveloped.
I will ask my local GP (physician) if I lack testosterone, and I’ll probably take a blood test to find out what my blood serum testosterone levels are.
Can any professionals or those with knowledge in this field help me with this enquiry?
I'm not going to a physician, they never prescribe anything in this country.
The local health food guy researches these supplements and their side effects, he would be the guy selling the stuff.
Chris S replied: "you're body makes all the testosterone you need, if you add any more to it, you will screw yourself up"
e.buddha replied: "You answered your own question at least 5 times. Yes it helps with overall development, if you're worried that your body is not creating enough you can go to your doctors, but if not you'll have to wait until puberty kicks in more."
just me replied: "Give yourself time to grow up! Many men dont start maturing until older than you. No physician is going to prescribe testosterone at your tender age."
How can I increase my estrogen levels naturally? i'm a 24 yr old female with pcos (polycystic ovarian disorder). my gyn says that i have slightly elevated testosterone levels and low estrogen levels. im already on spironolactone (anti-androgenic drug) and high dose estrogen birth control.
i also take these natural supplements:
-spearmint tea x 2 cups a day
-soy protein 30 mg daily plus soy milk and tofu
-anise, black cohosh, fennel, raspberry, sage, sarsaparilla, squawvine, unicorn root and wild yam root
-im on a low carb diet with 75% raw foods
is there anything else i should do which will help me conceive?
thanks so much in advance (:
thalesgirl replied: "Yoga might help to balance your endocrine system - I find that it's really good for that...
And then, did you know that yams/sweet potatoes have estrogen? Scientists think that's why African tribes for whom yams are a staple are incredibly fertile. :)"
Zambiti replied: "Flax has long been used as a natural estrogen replacement for women who need more estrogen. It is best to get whole seeds and grind up a tablespoon at a time so it is freshest. You can put it in water and drink it, or add it to a smoothy or protein shake. We even put it in our muffins here. Flax's natural estrogens are very good, plus Flax also is a great source for natural omega's .
EDIT: Forgot to say that a cheap coffee grinder is great for this. That is what I use, and it makes it really easy."
calyx156 replied: "Two things come to mind from your list: 1) I'd actually be careful of my soy intake as it's a) cooling and suppressing to the sexual chi in the body, and 2) Look closely at the 75% raw foods diet. Yes, this diet, if done correctly, will make you very clean and very clear, but to make hormones in quantity, the body needs steady strong and reliable sources of protein and zinc. If by 75% raw, you're including oysters, shellfish and fish in that diet (which I highly doubt somehow...), good on ya, and way to go. The primary clues that you need to stop with the raw foods will be a) you'll start to freeze in the winter and quite literally find that no matter what you do, you cannot keep warm, b) you will begin to find yourself becoming cachexic, that is--so thin and in a condition where your body is literally starting to digest itself, that people will start to ask you if you are anorexic. c) You may find yourself having odd dreams of steak and chicken and standard American balanced meals w/ meat, starch (usually mashed potatoes w/ gravy) and 2 or 3 veggies plus bread, butter, milk and dessert. This can take a long time to occur, especially if you were pudgy or round to begin with and had a lot of "excess" to get rid of. I would remind you that anything taken to excess becomes its opposite. This is to say, a diet that started as a health increasing measure can indeed become a source of illness and disease if continued too strictly or too long. No Native American Tribe in North America practiced exclusive raw foods eating. And there's a reason for this: to live and to thrive primarily out of doors in North American, one needs to eat hearty, warming, build up foods, not cold, cooling, breakdown, raw foods. These are wonderful for you in the warm and hot weather, and you'll probably be quite fine for a few years, especially if you are inside during the cold weather. Watch out for year 7 of this or any other highly restrictive diet. Year 7 is when the body's natural stores of Vit B12 run out. Year 7 is when people in the raw foods and macrobiotic communities start to FREEZE in the winter times and literally NOT be able to keep themselves warm. It's when they start craving sweets uncontrollably (a sign of protein deficiency), start experiencing an inability to focus, concentrate and put out sufficiently meaningful work, and when their sexual energy pretty much goes to hell, so don't say I didn't warn ya...And I say these things to you as a woman who lived and worked professionally in the macrobiotic commuity from the age of 17 to about 25, and still to this day eats extremely healthfully. Change is imperative. I'm not saying don't keep up with your raw foods regime. I'm saying know what it will look like in the body when it's time to stop. Do not stay in one place dietarily EVER. I'd also look strongly at adding Vitex agnus castus to my list of herbs, as well as kelp and other seaweeds such as wakame, arame, hijiki, alaria, sea palm, dulse, agar agar, carrageenan, etc., etc. If you're needing to rebalance your hormones and are too high in androsteroids, look strongly at eating shiitake and maitake mushrooms, and fungi in general. These will help to break down old meat fats and energies in the body b/c of their extremely strong and medicinal yin qualities. I have some SERIOUS questions about using synthetic drugs and more especially synthetic estrogens in the body to try to create balance. I don't quite want to say, "It won't happen, you'll just pendulum swing the other way...but I'm very close to saying just exactly that to you." Sorry, no confidence vote w/ the high dose estrogens or the spironolactone...Big red flags and big yellow caution lights going off for me...Whatever you do, avoid milk, eggs all dairy and non-organic meats and chickens like the plague...Sounds like you're already well on your way there. There have been MANY reports of women wearing strings of myrrh beads finally having luck conceiving. I would also strongly recommend the services of a good acupuncturist/Chinese herbalist."
