Does the army test for opiates in general or do they test for heroin, morphine, oxycodone, hydrcodone etc? im currently prescribed to oxycontin and i took some old morphine i had in my cabinet from a surgery last year. will this show up as opiates or will it show up that i have morphine and oxycodone in my system?

Amy S replied: "The preliminary test will show just "opiates" in general. The lab will then retest the sample, to get more specific results. That's when they'll figure out it's morphine and oxycodone. If you're still needing to take those strong of medications, the military probably isn't for you. They don't generally deal well with those types of pain issues or previous medical issues. they especially aren't interested in anyone who is currently dealing with a medical condition that would require an Oxy script. I can't tell you how many kids I've met and heard from who enlisted with the idea that they'd be just fine... and yet when it came down to it, they were not at all prepared for the absolute life-changing experience boot camp can be. If you're not well geared up for that type of life, then it's not for you... and having a medical condition that would require you to be prescribed oxycontin just isn't going to cut it. If you don't have a medical condition, but are using those drugs recreationally, your life will be a living he!! in the military... and ultimately you'll deal with a much harsher criminal justice system than the civilian criminal justice system."

BeenThereDoneThat replied: "Opiates testing will normally show a "positive" and could get you in some real trouble / disqualified for service (in my opinion) if you have had morphine and/or oxycontin lately. Lately is the key. I was OIC (officer in charge) of a urine-collection / drug testing program, and we did NOT use just a small set of specific drugs, since many metabolites (drug breakdown substances) are detected at varying concentration levels, depending on many factors, including drug strength, amount, time, your metabolism, weight, biochemistry, other substances in your body, etc. Look up "drugs, narcotic" on websites to learn more, such as "half-life" breakdown time estimates, and more. You'll be distracted with sudden withdrawal from the drug - this is assuming you've been on it for a year."

Are Heroin and Oxycodone the same thing? I'm wondering, because I know one of my family members has been using Oxy' to get high. I've heard that both of those are similiar in effects, but I'm not completely sure. And in all actuality, oxycodone is more powerful in heroin. because street heroin is not usually pure, rarely ever. but unless you have pure heroin, it is MUCH stronger and very addictive. Someone selling a 40mg oxy can keep from getting sick for the entire day on that amount of money. It's a bad cycle that ruins countless lives"

Question about Oxycodone and Heroin? My pain medicine doctor prescribes me 30 MG of Oxycodone Immediate release meds. I have a friend who used Heroin and a lot of the times he asks me to give him some of my meds. I know its not the right thing to do as he's a close friend and I do need them for my injury (severe fracture of the L3) He says that Heroin and the medication I have are basically the same thing. How does that relate? How much Heroin equals one of my Pills or Vice Versa?

WC09 replied: "From my understanding, oxycodone and heroin (and morphine) have a very similar chemical "backbone." Because of this, they all produce similar effects on the body but to different degrees. Heroin addicts often inject/snort/smoke heroin thus producing a more dramatic effect whereas oxycodone (if taken as prescribed) is taken orally and is time released to relieve pain slowly over a long period of time. I'm assuming that your friend either chews or snorts the oxycodone which would effectively produce a similar high as snorting/smoking heroin. I don't think you can really translate how much heroin = 30 mg of oxycodone because the purity level of heroin is different every time it's made. In other words, 30 mg of oxy will always be 30 mg of oxy (because a pharmacist made it) but 30 mg of "pure" heroin will be significantly stronger than 30 mg of some crap you buy on the street."

It is a miracle drug for addicts, as they do not suffer withdrawal symptons and because of the Naloxone in the pill, they cannot use heroin or any opiates because it blocks the effects of it and htey will not get high while taking Suboxone, so it curbs opiate use. This has been really short and vauge and I do apologize for that. adayandforeverband replied: "Try Kratom, it is a different substance all together but has a similar effect to opiates and it's legal. It is known for helping people get off opiates. You can buy it off ebay. I ordered some last week and it is calming and relaxing like a hydrocodone but I wouldn't know what heroin is like. I would suggest getting a strong extract like 10x since you do heroin and would have a tolerance. Don't expect it to be as strong as heroin but it should help you get off it."

i need an anser about oxycodone that actualy knows what they are talking about...? Can a person take 40mg of oxycontin if they have never had a painkiller before?? or will this dose cause them to overdose. this is not an actual dillema. nor am i planning to take this drug. im just wondering if oxycontin at this dose (40mg) is too high a dose for someone. keep in mind though a person takes it as directed. some people on here actualy thought it was morphine and some said it was just synthetic heroin!!

The start would be 20 Mg twice a day for at least a week, then assess the results. 40 mg is NOT what a doctor should, or would prescribe. Oxycodone (Tylox etc.) is more appropriate, and that is for post-surgical pain. If you have 40 MG Oxycontin, it is a long acting, slow release medicine, and I seriously doubt you have a prescription for it.
