Find Positives Of Paxil in Questions
Does anyone have any positives stories to share about Paxil? I have been on Paxil for a couple of months with great success. I have read so many terrible things about it, I would love to hear some positive success stories. Thanks!

Tapestry6 replied: "My daughter has been taking it for 2 years she has no panic attacks now and is living life to the fullest, good job, independent living. I don't like her taking drugs but its working for her. That is a success story."

Nikki replied: "My mom was on Paxil for a year and she had no problems. It helped her during her time of depression. Everyone is different on how they will react to a medication. It's all trial and error. Glad to hear it's working well for you. Best of luck."

How long did it take for YOU to star feeling positive effect of paxil? Please don't answer like "It usually takes 4 to 6 weeks..." I want to hear personal experiences. On what day did you notice positive effects coming up?

Candy M replied: "It took about 5days for me.I could feel a different in no time after it got into my system. No more sitting around crying for no reason."

Hi my name is: ANIMAL replied: "I didn't. Granted I took it when I was 16-17 which was not recommended but my doctor told me it was 'safe'. I felt great at first it took about 2 months I was no longer depressed or anxious all the time. But then I felt nothing at all no happiness no anger no depression nothing at all. So I guess it depends on the person some feel the effect faster than others and some feel them then they go away."

Does anyone have any positive experiences with Paxil to share? I was recently prescribed this med for anxiety/stress and I haven't filled the prescription yet. I am 25 years old and am also taking beta-blockers for neurocardiogenic syncope. My cardiologist prescribed Paxil to help relieve the symptoms that cause me to pass out.

Yooper82675 replied: "I haven't had a panic attack since."

laurel g replied: "I am a counselor who takes Paxil every day......and, for me, it works like a charm. Before I took the Paxil, I had had some really too horrible experiences that affected my ability to even think straight! Now, my anxiety is taken care of in a good and helpful way. The Paxil strength has a great deal to do with how it affects you. I take as little as possible, for my anxiety, and I recommend you try it. Get the Generic, it is much cheaper, works the same."

flygurl_037 replied: "I have taken paxil for the same reasons. Paxil was definitely a good things for me to take, it helped with the anxiety/panic attacks indefinitely. I had a couple of headaches as a side effect when i first started taking Paxil, but after that the side effects were nonexistent and the headaches at first were completely outweighed by the benefits. Just a side note as well, I started taking Paxil when I was 17 :)"

Dielorilei replied: "Paxil is a very nasty drug; Wellbutrin or Cymbalta are better choices, however, if you are under the care of a cardiologist, those two may not be options because of norepinephrine production, which can raise your blood pressure. Effexor might be a viable option for you. weight gain and profuse sweating are just a couple of the ugly side effects of Paxil. You probably need to see someone who specializes in psychiatric disorders with full knowledge of psychotropic drugs and their effects. I realize there are negative connotations associated with that field of medicine, but I would want someone who specializes in those matters prescribing meds like that. If you choose to go that route, just make sure the doctor has full knowledge of the condition(s) your cardiologist is treating you for. Best of luck to you."

Natalya replied: "I see someone has suggested Effexor; be careful as this medication can affect blood pressure; it can make it both rise and fall."

Oreo replied: "It's a very good drug, and especially helpful in patients with syncopal episodes (for some reason). I think you will benefit from taking this medication. Just remember: Do not stop taking it suddenly; this time of meds needs to be slowly decreased before stopping. Good luck! I'd sure give it a try!"

Victoria O replied: "I was scared to take the paxil at first but im on it and im doing good ive been on it for one month almost and ive been getting out more."

stormchaser replied: "Paxil has been very helpful to me for my depression and anxiety. It had mild side effects for a week or two-- sleepiness, yawning, and constipation, but nothing unmanageable. The main thing is, when you go off it for any reason, wean yourself off it very slowly, or you may have a rebound/withdrawal effect where you feel worse than before you started on it."

Is klonopin in paxil? My husband is being tested for benzos and opiates, it came up for benzos. are there? I need help! Is my husband lying to me? Is he still using? Or would benzos show up as a positive for only taking Paxil? HELP! SMKP

Tommy Thompson replied: "Klonopin is not in paxil. Paxil is an SSRI which is a serotonin reuptake inhibitor. Klonopin is a controled substance. They have nothing in common. Sorry for the troubles you are having. My best to you. Get some professional help for him."

dropping bombs on your mom replied: "no. Paxil is an SSRI. Benzodiazepenes (benzos) would only appear if he was taking Klonopin (like you said); Ativan; Xanax; etc. or a generic thereof. If your husband is being tested for benzos and opiates only, neither would show up on the test if he was only taking Paxil. The only thing that would show up + for opiates would be opiates like Vicodin, methadone, oxycontin/codone, and heroin/opium."

Jill replied: "These are two different kinds of meds. Klonopin is a benzo and Paxil is an anti depressant. He is definitely still using because there are no benzos in anti-depressants. I know, I have used them both."

Jimmy replied: "He's probably lying to you.... unless theres some other explanation he can give for a positive benzo test."

Susas replied: "No klonopin in paxil. There are benzos in some cold medicines."

paxil ????????????? ? ok, so my doctor put me on paxil 20mg but he told me to take half the pill for 4 days and then the whole pill after. the reason why he prescribe me that is because of my anxiety and mild ocd!! the thing is i have done some research online about this drug and i have found more neg then positive things about it :(. so far i haven't had any bad side effects except for restless leg syndrome! but i have read about brain zaps, tinnitus, headaches and also that withdrawal symptoms are really bad :(.. i don't know if i should keep taking this drug or find something natural instead?? i heard exercise helps?? any other remedies? another thing i am in the process of finding good psychologist to get some therapy since i heard it also helps? does it? also has anyone taken paxil and actually had a good experience???

play boy replied: "Exercise relaly does help anxiety and that sort of thing. You could give cardio workouts a try will not takeing the drig and see how you react."

Blessed replied: "i would ask for a different anti depressant. Paxil is very hard to wean off from and if you are a women and want to get pregnant or get pregnant you have to stop because it will cause birth defects. Ask about Zoloft or Prozac."

gracie replied: "I took paxil about 3 years ago and I did get some side effects, such as the brain zaps but it did go away. After the side effects went away and I got my dosage right I felt great on it. I did go off after being on it for a couple years because I thought I didn't need it any more. I did not have any trouble going off of it. I weened off very slowly over a couple months time and had no problems. My anxiety recently started back so I am back on my paxil with no side effects this time and I am feeling really good again. Every drug affects people different so you have to decide for yourself what you want to do. But yes I did have great luck with paxil."

Any positive experiences on PAXIL? Anybody have any positive words to say about Paxil? My husband was prescribed this by his doctor. He has been on other things, but I have read some negative things and I'm a little worried. Thank you

mickeyr813 replied: "my friend and my mom are on it and they seem fine.. PERSONALY i swear by Lexapro.. it all depends on the person."

ChaoticKimmy replied: "I am sorry, but I can't tell you anything positive about Paxil. I took it for two weeks, and I started having seizures because of it. I had to be taken off of it imediately! Now, every person is different, so this may not happen to your husband, but I just wanted to tell you what happened when I took it."

aahhdahh replied: "I have been on it since April and am feeling "better". I was having some really awful panic attacks. They were so bad that I visited the emergency room twice within two weeks. I have not had any since I started taking it. Tell your husband good luck and things will get better."

precious replied: "It really depends on the person... .I also checked on side effects for it and they didn't look to good.. Here is the website I was looking at ennislaw.com... But they also said not to stop taking without talking to your doctor.. You have to weigh out the side effects and see if it is worth it to you..But I would see about another med. just ask the doctor about the pros's and con's to each one before you get them..."

Fabula replied: "I am taking paxil since April, and I've been feeling better. The only bad reaction I had was one day when I took it early in the morning without having breakfast until two hours later. I had terrible nausea, vomits and dizziness during two days. So, my only advice is always take it after eating."

gmonte33 replied: "I found it very helpful the few times I took it for depression. It normalized my mood, sleep, appetite and energy and I didn't experience any noticeable side effects. Some people think it's great, some it doesn't help and some have bad experiences with it."

I've read so many negative results from taking Paxil. Are there any positive ones out there? I'm now kind of concerned since I was prescribed this for social anxiety and I will start taking it tomorrow. So has any one experienced any positive outcome from taking it?

irony replied: "I took Paxil a few years ago for over a year. It did help me. I saw no negative effects, but everyone is different. I know a few people who were on it and I never heard negative effects from them. But you could do an online search to learn more on it. I am currently on Effexor, I find it helps my anxiety better."

averyanne77 replied: "I have a friend who took it for years and did really well. The most positive thing you will likely see are the results it is meant to give, you will feel emotionally better, and be able to deal with your personal stressors in a way you can't now. If you take it for a few months are don't like the side effects your doctor can give you something else, so don't worry."

andrewgaskey replied: "I am currently on Paxil and the negatives are not that bad. Sure you hear about all this bad stuff that can happen like a decrease in sex drive, thoughts of death and so on and so forth but in my experience none of it is true. They have to warn you of these things because it has happened to people who it was tested on. Not everyone has these issues. I would recommend you try it out for about 4 weeks (it takes about 2 for your system to accept the medication) and see how you feel. If you nothing changes go back to your doc. I think you will be happy with the changes you will see in about a month. Just remember to be patient with it. I have been on it for about 7 months now. It is the 3rd medication i have taken for depression and it has worked the best. BE SURE YOU TAKE IT EVERY DAY. I missed a few days and I started to feel dizzy and like I was going to vomit. You will be fine though. Keep in touch with your doctor, bug them all you need...It is his job to keep you healthy. GOOD LUCK!"

emucompboy replied: "The positive outcome is that it works. Yes, it really does. After you've been taking it for a while, you'll be able to decide whether the benefits outweigh the downside, for yourself."

Will paxil show up on drug test or as false positive? 10 panel test I think.

versantly replied: "doesn't matter -take the prescription to the test and you're in the clear."

holey moley replied: "No. It's not a drug of abuse, and they don't test for antidepressants."

can paxil cr 37.5mg cause a drug screening test to show a positive for THC? my drug screening test showed positive for THC Ihave not smoked marijani for ten years my probation officer said there are not in over the counter drug or nothing you could eat affect the drug test if this is so I only take the paxil for the last 5 years i do drink alot of diet coke and tea I cant figure this out?

mr awesome replied: "what the fuc"

jackie b replied: "no"

wantsshy replied: "No it cannot"

Shagy replied: "Hmmmmmm thats the problem mmmmmmm why don't you put this quetn on yahoo answers (pakhhhhhhh...khiiiiiii hehehehheheh..............)"

poohluvs8_9_20_29 replied: "When you take a drug test, the examiner usually asks you if you are on any perscription drugs, so that way they will know and they won't question you about it afterwards."

fml21 replied: "stuff that will cause false positives"

paxil anything positive? my doctor gave me a prescription for paxil i am scaredto take it with these horror storys if you have something positive to say please tell me give me the confidence thanks sorry let me exsplain i see a therapist and and a psychiatrist i been on klonoplin for a year and it helps with anxiety but i have anxiety and ocd i think of allthe bad things and get scared of doing new things i dont drink smoke or do drugs just these klonoplin pills and i just want to make sure that paxilis safe before taking it i am so scared of the side affects and if it would make my symptoms worse

bubbles replied: "I was on Paxil for 3 years for depression, I never had any side effects and it helped me."

Your Assistant replied: "First was this doctor a psychiatrist, if not do not take it. I would go to a therapist, get a diagnosis, then have the therapist recommend a psychiatrist Then let them give you a medication and paxil is just one of many. It depends on your body. Regular doctors are not qualified to give an anti depressant as that is not there field, it would be like a podiatrist doing heart surgery on you, seriously. I remain, Your assistant this is what I do."

Jeff replied: "Don't take that crap! It will mess you up!"

< My Lilly Girl replied: "If your a young teen then no I do not advise it. If you are an adult do not mix it with alcohol what so ever. It interferes and causes more depression. It took me a bit to realize that if I was going to take Paxil then no drinking. Like any anti-depressant if you feel worse or suicidal call your doctor right away. There are many other anti-depressants out there that you can try it depends on you and how you react. Remember not everyone has the same experience and you may do well on it. Edit: To your edit. I almost mentioned do you have anxiety because you are like me and find a fault with medications. I only take my Xanax and was on Klonopin before that ;) so I understand why you are worried. But if your like me you can stop the medication if you do like the way it feels."

Ted J replied: "take a half of one to start."
