Find Mircette And Depression in Q&A
What are the difference of side effects in Mircette & Kariva;what have the side effects been for either one? I am currently on Yasmin. Due to lack of libido and depression, I want to switch to something else. My GYN prescribed Mircette to me instead of Yasmin and said that the lower amount of hormones would help these side effects. I am concerned about how it has affected the libido, lubrication during sex, mood/depression, and weight for people who have used both Mircette and Kariva or one of them. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

snapszen replied: "I have used kariva. i think that Mircette is the manufacturer. Anyway the estrogen was too low for me so I had to switch to something else. Otherwise it worked fine."

I have problems with birth control pills causing depression or spotting? I have been on birth control for years but haven't found a pill that is right for me. I am normally very sensitive to medicine so it isn't a surprise that I have this problem but I am looking for any other suggestions that might help. I have taken Ortho, Yaz, Yasmine, Kariva (generic for Mircette) and have had a problem with them all, either depression or spotting. I have thought about the IUD because my doctor recommended it but after researching side effects I have found that there are to many risks. Any other suggestions?

Badash replied: "I was in the exact same situation your are. The IUD, patch, shot, etc. all have some very bad side effects (per people I know that are on them). I went off of the pill in December and was fitted for a diaphragm. No horomones and quite effective if used properly!"

Amber replied: "NUVARING"

blurredbeatle8 replied: "Tricyclen Low worked well for me compared to numerous other birth control pills, but I did actually go off and feel soooo much better!!"

nics replied: "Take a very strong birth control pill... ask your doctor about more information. But if your really sensitive to medicine try other forms of birth control, but mostly the other ones are very technical (IUD) or long term (the shot)"

af replied: "Aviane is decent."

K replied: "i have been in the same situation as you are in, I have stopped messing around with my hormones all together and feel great again. Why not just use condoms? and if you want to be even safer you can additionally use something like persona, that measures hormones in your urine to determine the fertile periods when you are at risk of pregnancy (not as effective as condoms or the pill on its own but still 94% effective)"

Has anyone had any problems with the birth control, Mircette? I was wondering if anybody has had any problems with mood swings/depression with that particular birth control? Thanks!

Mark replied: "My wife has 2 babies and she is never find this find of problem.."

birth control and depression? I have suffered several bouts of severe depression in the past. I want to take birth control pills and I've tried levora, mircette, and desogen. All three increased my depression significantly, especially the first two, to the point I had to stop them. Can anyone who has suffered from depression recommend a good pill to try that may have less effect on mood?

cmdp replied: "Have you ever tried Seasonale? Talk with your Doctor to discuss different types of birth controls that will not cause that problem. Seasonale was a great pill for me but I am not sure if it would be the same for you. I am about to get on the Yaz pill and it is supposed to help with all the emotional and physical problems that come along with periods and hormonal problems. So you may want to ask about Yaz too. (Not Yassmine)"

lruch86 replied: "Have you tried Lutera? I get very moody (pretty much bipolar) on certain birth control. With Lutera there is an even amount of hormones in all pills. So basically you're not going up and down with a ton of hormones. When you go from your placebo pills your going right back to the same amount you will be taking all month longs, you won't go to a higher dosage like most bc pills"
