AM replied: "1) both can create constipation and then consequently hemorroids.
2) can conflict with drugs: Other medicines-Although certain medicines should not be used together at all, in other cases two different medicines may be used together even if an interaction might occur. In these cases, your doctor may want to change the dose, or other precautions may be necessary. When you are taking a narcotic analgesic, it is especially important that your health care professional know if you are taking any of the following:
* Carbamazepine (e.g., Tegretol)-Propoxyphene may increase the blood levels of carbamazepine, which increases the chance of serious side effects
* Central nervous system (CNS) depressants or
* Monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor activity (isocarboxazid [e.g., Marplan], phenelzine [e.g., Nardil], procarbazine [e.g., Matulane], tranylcypromine [e.g., Parnate] (taken currently or within the past 2 weeks) or
* Tricyclic antidepressants (amitriptyline [e.g., Elavil], amoxapine [e.g., Asendin], clomipramine [e.g., Anafranil], desipramine [e.g., Pertofrane], doxepin [e.g., Sinequan], imipramine [e.g., Tofranil], nortriptyline [e.g., Aventyl], protriptyline [e.g., Vivactil], trimipramine [e.g., Surmontil])-The chance of side effects may be increased; the combination of meperidine (e.g., Demerol) and MAO inhibitors is especially dangerous
* Naltrexone (e.g., Trexan)-Narcotics will not be effective in people taking naltrexone
* Rifampin (e.g., Rifadin)-Rifampin decreases the effects of methadone and may cause withdrawal symptoms in people who are dependent on methadone
* Zidovudine (e.g., AZT, Retrovir)-Morphine may increase the blood levels of zidovudine and increase the chance of serious side effects
3) Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.
Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur :
Cold, clammy skin; confusion; convulsions (seizures); dizziness (severe); drowsiness (severe); low blood pressure; nervousness or restlessness (severe); pinpoint pupils of eyes; slow heartbeat; slow or troubled breathing; weakness (severe)
Also, check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:
Less common or rare
Dark urine (for propoxyphene only); fast, slow, or pounding heartbeat; feelings of unreality; hallucinations (seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there); hives, itching, or skin rash; increased sweating (more common with hydrocodone, meperidine, and methadone); irregular breathing; mental depression or other mood or mental changes; pale stools (for propoxyphene only); redness or flushing of face (more common with hydrocodone, meperidine, and methadone); ringing or buzzing in the ears; shortness of breath, wheezing, or troubled breathing; swelling of face; trembling or uncontrolled muscle movements; unusual excitement or restlessness (especially in children); yellow eyes or skin (for propoxyphene only)
Other side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. However, check with your doctor if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome:
More common
Dizziness, light-headedness, or feeling faint; drowsiness; nausea or vomiting
Less common or rare
Blurred or double vision or other changes in vision; constipation (more common with long-term use and with codeine); decrease in amount of urine; difficult or painful urination; dry mouth; false sense of well-being; frequent urge to urinate; general feeling of discomfort or illness; headache; loss of appetite; nervousness or restlessness; nightmares or unusual dreams; redness, swelling, pain, or burning at place of injection; stomach cramps or pain; trouble in sleeping; unusual tiredness or weakness
After you stop using this medicine, your body may need time to adjust. The length of time this takes depends on the amount of medicine you were using and how long you used it. During this period of time check with your doctor if you notice any of the following side effects:
Body aches; diarrhea; fast heartbeat; fever, runny nose, or sneezing; gooseflesh; increased sweating; increased yawning; loss of appetite; nausea or vomiting; nervousness, restlessness, or irritability; shivering or trembling; stomach cramps; trouble in sleeping; unusually large pupils of eyes; weakness
Other side effects not listed above may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your doctor.
Check for any conflicts with meds or conditions you may or situations such as breastfeeding, seizure disorders, etc., which I'm sure your doctor covered."
MoonlightandWine replied: "First of all, hydrocodone and oxycodone has alot of acetaminophen (the ingredient in Tylenol) which is horrible on the liver. It doesn't take alot of acetominophen to get to toxic levels in the liver. It can ultimately destroy the liver if you over do it. That is one of the chemicals in hydrocodone, oxycodone, etc. These drugs can also be very hard on your heart. These pain medications are great meds for pain if you don't overdo with them. However, most ppl do overdo with them and thus cause themselves added health problems. I had a pain pill addiction to these pills for many years 10 years +, and began having liver and heart problems from it. I have not been on any of these meds for the past 3 years and have not had any permanent problems from them since. These meds should ONLY be used for the period that they are really needed, and then discontinued. Prolonged use can and WILL result in damage to other organs in the body like the liver, kidneys, and heart. Good luck!
Hydrocodone and oxycodone and drugs in this class do not come as an only ingredient medication. They are always either mixed with acetaminophen or aspirin. You cannot get these drugs in a "straight" form. These are combination drugs."
Does oxycodone have any side effects? I have tried other pain killers that made me feel nauseous. I was just wondering whether oxycodone has any side effects as well, and if there are any drawbacks that I should be aware of.
cintia w replied: "Yes, oxycodone will be able to produce side effects. The common ones are: nausea, lightheadedness, upset stomach, dry mouth, constipation, blanking of emotions, and mental clouding. If you happen to turn out to be allergic to oxycodone, you may develop skin rashes. Oxycodone can also cause decreased testosterone levels as well as enlargement of the prostate. Overdose of oxycodone may also lead to life threatening illnesses. You can also become addicted to oxycodone if you use it for a long span of time. I advise that you consult a doctor first before you try using oxycodone. You must also follow the doctor's instructions carefully."
Antonio R replied: "Oxycodone has numerous side effects. I've been on Oxycontin and Percocet, both of which made me extremely nauseous...Whereas Hydrocodone and Codeine never made me feel the least bit sick. The biggest problem with oxycodone is that its extremely addictive. I've heard about people becoming so hooked on it that they end up shooting it up as a means of consumption. Be careful with it. And the sickness that Percocet gave me lasted for nearly 48 hrs after taking the medication. I've found Vicodin (Hydrocodone) to have the least ammount of side effects (in the opiate/pain killer category) for me personally."
Budd L replied: "If you have had this reaction to other codeine based drugs such as vicodin or loratab. Oxycontin will probably also cause you to feel nauseous. Depending on how severe your pain is sometimes an aspirin or Tylenol is the best alternative. If you must take a narcotic pain killer Oxycontin is probably one of the better drugs. It does have many side effects and must only be taken under a doctors supervision. Consult your physician for more information."
What are the good and bad side effects of taking oxycodone and whats the ammount for an overdose? NO im not looking to kill myself, im just another teen having fun with drugs. Looking for ones that can make me lose my mind.
Chali replied: "Well the good side is it can relieve pain. The bad side is it is addictive, it makes some people sick, and it doesn't always relieve everyone's pain. As for the amount for an OD, I don't know; I would say it is different for different people; would depend on if you are addicted and so forth, but if you are considering taking an overdose then you need to get some help fast.
Edit: ok Me, then just be very careful. Don't mix it with other drugs or alcohol, ok? And don't do it too often; pretty soon you will find yourself addicted; it is not too hard to reach that point."
What are the effects of snorting oxycodone? It's not me doing it. I just want to know.

did_u_no_wrong replied: "Well you're already stupid for doing it so you probably can't do much more damage."
zil28ennov replied: "Drug addiction"
Chas2 replied: "nodding out,, drooling,, throwing up for sure,, possible overdose and death.
You really shouldn't mess with them,, I've seen way too many people ruin their lives with them,,, and not one started off thinking they would have a problem.."
Laibach replied: "depends how much. Just start with a quarter of a pill and you should feel pretty loosey goosey. In moderation, it's pretty mellow but that stuff can be intense in larger doses and crazy addicting so be very very careful.
It's very numbing.... like a vicadin times 100.
Better yet, you should probably just stay away from the stuff but I know you're not going to listen to anyone that says you shouldn't so I hope that helps. lol
But seriously, please be careful."
Tyler replied: "very very harmfull, you better go to the hospital"
Cheryl replied: "death. seriously, they put a safety coating on them.. when you break the coating, you get an extreme amount of the chemical drug. There was a girl in my hometown who snorted a lower dose, stopped breathing, passed out.. people thought she was sleeping it off.. never woke up."
L0LLip0p replied: "it kills your brain cells and creates lasting effect you will get dumber and dumber and sicker and sicker until you are nothing but a vegitable"

sogreidhm replied: "a buzz that in no way is worth what it's going to your brain cells. you want a buzz? Do a bungee jump"
mikeymeitbual replied: "In general... feeling of euphoria, pain relief, loss of coordination, nausea, dizziness
For most... crippling drug addiction, severe damage of relationships with friends and family, loss of employment
Do a little reading about heroin or morphine addiction - with the exception of a few minor details, heroin and oxycodone are the same drug."
chic3154 replied: "DONT KNOW THE EFFECTS BUT FOR GOODNESS SAKE STOP NOW BEFORE YOU DO DAMAGE"

Am i suffering from side effects from oxycodone, so could this be something else? I was prescribed this pain medication for severe back pain, along with muscle relaxers. Since I have taken both (in as low as a dose as I could take) I have been extremely tired. My boyfriend has been coming to check on me but I've almost been sleeping non-stop and can barely stay awake. I feel really hungry but anytime I eat, I throw it up minutes later. Ive stopped taking these medications but Its been almost a full 24 hours and I still have these symptoms
Lavise F replied: "yes consult with a dr. right away that could be a very bad thing, stop taking that drug if you really dont need it. I think that your dr may have mis -diagnose you. go to another dr and tell him what happening.make sure that you document all the sytoms to avoid confusion when you speak with your primary dr. ok hope you get better...!"
oxycodone effects...will it effect the chance of pregnancy? If the man takes oxycodone will oxycodone effect the chance of pregnancy?
Mason Gunnar due Jan 7th! replied: "Nope. It doesn't have an effect on fertility."

what are Oxycodone side effects? My dad has some from surgery and I'm thinkin about takin one. What are the side effects/dangers. what am i gonna feel? Will it do much for me if i have never taken it before?
I've only thought about taking them. Don't think I actually will. And no my dad don't need them. He had them from a vasectomy he had 2 years ago and never took them.
Shane H replied: "Constipation; dizziness; drowsiness; headache; nausea; sleeplessness; vomiting; weakness.
Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur when using Oxycodone:
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); confusion; difficulty urinating; fast or slow heartbeat; seizures; severe dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting; slowed or difficult breathing; tremor; vision changes.
With that being said, if the above is not enough of a deterrent for you- they are HIGHLY addictive. Use caution. Plus, don't you think your dad might actually need them??
Edited to say: If you have never had a medication with codiene in it, beware. Codiene allergies and sensitivities are extremely common and are pretty fatal."
Chase W replied: "OMg you lucky Sob, if they are the 5mg you should take 2 or 3 , you will feel very calm and happy, you will have no pain in your body, if you live in VA ill come down there and chill with you lol, but dont like more than 4 if you have never taken before, oh and more than 4 grams of acetaminophen is lethal fyi."
EK replied: "Here are a couple of experiences from different people:
Doses:
Oral Oxycodone Dosages
w/ no tolerancew/ heavy tolerance
Light 2.5 - 5 mg 5 -10 mg
Common 5 - 10 mg 10 - 40 mg
Strong10 - 30 mg 30 - 60 mg"
Jewels replied: "Depending on the strength you could have a hard time breathing,or worse respiratory failure. And what happens if you like it ? A whole bottle could also lead to addiction. Why chance it ! Dad should have gotten rid of this stuff long ago. It is worse than heroin"
Mark T replied: "respiratory depression, dizziness, euphoria, drowsiness, and nausea. If you do take too much it can stop your breathing, so be careful with that. Other than that, have fun and be safe!"
