Questions and Answers
Is avelox the proper antibiotic for a throat infection? My doctor prescribed it to me, I was expecting amoxacillin, I keep reading that it is used for sinus infections or pneumonia, as well as all the side effects

PinkyTrauma replied: "yes, it kills a broad spectrum of bacteria. However, like you said I've heard it being usedmore often in respiratory infections but it should do the job, just make sure you take them all!"

Bad reactions to Levaquin and Avelox? I am allergic to most antibiotics. My doctor gave me Avelox and Levaquin to treat my sinus infection which I get from time to time. The medicine was okay for the first few treatments, but after that I seemed to get more and more sick if I used either medicine. The Avelox started making me too weak to take it. I got another sinus infection a few weeks ago and took a levaquin in 1/2 strength like the doctor said, and it nearly killed me. I was so weak feeling and my chest felt weird and the nausea was so bad. My head was spinning and I just waited and prayed until it wore off. I haven't taken any more of either antibiotic. Have any of you had a similar experience with Avelox or Levaquin?

jasminelovescandy replied: "No but i work in a doctors office and alot of people have similar reactions. Try BIAXIN or maybe a generic like CIPRO. Take all antibiotics with food or heavy liquid cause they make ur system work harder so try something lse if this doesnt work. or try a ZPack"

Can I take Avelox w/ Seroquel? My doctor says I can, but I keep finding info on the internet against it.? I was recently prescribed the antibiotic Avelox 400mg for an infection. Avelox 400mg and Seroquel 25mg (the drug I take at night) may interact. This is the issue: in the clincal trials of Seroquel, they tested certain drugs in combination with it ... the conclusion was: drugs that have the potential to cause QT prolongation (but when used properly usually do not) when used with other drugs that have the potential to cause QT prolongation CAN cause QT prolongation and related heart problems. Now, Seroquel and Avelox both have that potential. So, should I take them together? I rely on Seroquel for sleep ... without it, I'm a wreck and can barely function. And I need Avelox for an infection; if I don't take it, it may get worse. If you search it online, you will see what I'm talking about.

Assassin replied: "Plenty of drugs can interact together, but patients are told to take them anyway. Yes, there's a risk of some heart problems, but your doctor probably thinks that the benefits of you taking the two meds outweighs the risks. If you aren't at any particular risk of heart problems, then there's no need to worry. Take the two drugs as you've been told, but if you experience anything like dizziness, palpitations or fainting, stop the meds, and tell your doctor."

m.meyers73 replied: "Since seroquel is for schizophrenia....just listen to the voices in yer head!!"

what is ave lox 400mg used to cure? what is avelox used fore

Lil Momma replied: "Avelox is an antibiotic that is given for many different bacterial infections."

will avelox get you high? just wondering....anyone ever used it for that or heard anything about it??

saruhhvee replied: "As far as I can tell, there's nothing in it that would produce any kind of effect. Not every type of prescription can get you stoned. You gotta fake the good illnesses to get your hands on those. ;)"

I went to the Dr. today and she told me that I suffer with sinuses? She prescribed me Fluticasone Propionate (Nasal Spray) for my nose, avelox for my tonsils and Claritin D. She also told me i can use an over the counter medication for sinuses.. does anyone know of any good ones.. I got the generic version of Benadryl at walmart, (it's called : Equate Maximum Strength severe allergy & Sinus headache) which has the same ingredients as benadryl..does anyone know if that works?

senatorflexijerkoff replied: "Probably as good as anything else. Sinusitis won't kill you, but it's a real nusiance,"

Daisyduker replied: "Yes, it works as well as Benadryl. I believe your doctor meant you have sinus problems due to allergies and the medications you were prescribed will help you a lot, especially at night. Right now, the allergy season is high. We have green stuff on all of our cars from the pine trees. You should follow the instructions given by the doctor. The Benadryl will make you a little drowsy and I like to take it at night because of this. The Claritin will be great. Just make sure you don't get an infection (sinusitis) because that will require antibiotics. It can be very painful. The medication you were given will prevent you from getting this, If you begin to feel a little feverish or have a hard time blowing your nose, you may be developing sinusitis, in which case, please return to your doctor. I suffer these allergies every Spring and have great sympathy for you. The Equal Maximum Strength has a little bit more in it besides Benadryl. I believe it also contains acetaminophen (Tylenol)."
